This is a blog for my class Korean nykyhistorian kysymyksiä (Issues of Korean Contemporary History) in the Asia-Pacific Studies program of the Renvall Institute at the University of Helsinki.

As I lecture the class in Finnish - most of the teaching in this university is still in Finnish - the contents of this blog are also in the same language. That has not prevented some brave individuals like the organizers of the Frog in a Well history group blog from linking to this site, for which I am grateful - unfortunately the contents here are not accessible for those who don’t read Finnish, except for maybe some links. (But perhaps that’s only fortunate since I’m teaching a subject in which I’m not strictly speaking a specialist…)

English-language notes on issues relevant for my dissertation research on keepers of small businesses in Korea are at Hunjangûi karûch’im - Antti Leppänen’s notes on Korea.
